Be among the first to experience the Heard Museum’s newest exhibition with Olivia Barney (Diné), Collections Coordinator and Curator. In this 30-minute talk, Olivia will introduce Wisdom from the Future, which invites today’s leading Indigenous artists to reflect on the advice, hope, and guidance they would share with their younger selves.
Pairing artworks with deeply personal reflections, the exhibition reveals stories of resilience, creativity, and transformation—while offering insight into each artist’s evolving practice. Featured voices include some of the most renowned Native artists working today, such as:
– Kay WalkingStick (Cherokee)
– Norbert Peshlakai (Diné)
– Preston Singletary (Tlingit)
– Tony Abeyta (Diné)
– Verma Nequatewa (Hopi)
– Nora Naranjo Morse (Tewa, Kha’P’o Ówîngeh)
– Juanita Growing Thunder Fogarty (Fort Peck Assiniboine/Sioux)
– Barbara Teller Ornelas (Diné)
– Richard Zane Smith (Wyandot)
This is your opportunity to explore the exhibition with one of the curators who helped bring it to life—discovering the inspirations, challenges, and futures imagined by artists shaping Indigenous creativity today.
Included with museum admission and FREE for members. Tour meets at the Info Desk.
